Kabul, Afghanistan — 15 September 2025
The National Institute for Peace & Dialogue (NIPD) officially opens its doors today as a non-governmental organization dedicated to rebuilding trust and cooperation in communities affected by conflict.

“Peace that endures is built by neighbors, not imposed by outsiders,” says the founding statement. NIPD’s programs center on three pillars:
- Community Mediation and Citizens’ Councils – training local mediators and supporting grassroots dialogue.
- Research and Policy Insight – documenting the drivers of conflict and sharing findings in clear, open reports.
- Leadership Development – equipping youth, women’s groups, and local officials with practical skills for non-violent conflict resolution.
The institute’s pilot projects will begin in two provinces, with mobile listening sessions, community-led mediation workshops, and publicly available briefing papers for municipal authorities and donors.
NIPD invites partnerships with civil society groups, universities, and international donors who value transparency and measurable outcomes.
